Introduction

555 timer IC is one of the most popular IC for learning basic electronics. In this tutorial, we are going to create a 555 timer IC enabled touch switch. There will be a touch plate attached to the 555 timer IC using a BC547 transistor. We are making it 100 times sensitive by attaching  a touch plate. The touch switch circuit will detect stray voltages produced by mains voltages and electrostatic build up in a room. And when it detects the change, 555 timer IC will trigger the LED for some time and then automatically turn it off. For this experiment, you will need the following bill of materials.
